Tool Rack

Got the idea for a tool rack from some where on the internet and decided to make one since it's nice to be able to move your tools around in such a large space.

Pretty simple, just a wedge shaped frame on swivel wheels and peg board to hang tools. Also, for larger stuff, its easy to weld on hooks as your need them.

The Yianilos Cottage-Part 2

At this stage, we are finally ready to put a subfloor back down on the joists. Although I forgot to take pictures of it, We also demo-ed out the wall around the bathroom because we are increasing the square footage. The bathroom was pretty much a closet before.
Once the wall was gone, we plunge cut the rest of the rotten floor out with a worm drive circular saw.

And here the subfloor is down and the cottage is once again closed up. No more worries of finding deer prancing around inside for Yiani.

The Yianilos Cottage-Part 1

My friend and fellow Artist Jon Yianilos came into possession of this wonderful little house/cottage and New Hope, PA. Since the cottage was in need of some TLC and we always love a project, we decided to begin rehabbing it.

This first post is rather long as I have a back log of photos from our work. Future posts will deal with more specific stages.

While removing the ugly and broken tiles in the bathroom, we discovered that the problems went deeper.

Although I don't have a picture of it, we found that not only was the subfloor of the bathroom rotten, but that the floor joists and the beam they sit on were as well. We removed all of that and started replacing the bottom of the wall as you can see in this picture.

Here we have lamented (also called sistering) new longer treated joist onto the half rotten ones. The extra length of the joist will eventually be used to build a deck.

A close up of the rotten end joist and the beams that the house sits on.

Yiani and I get underneath the house and jack up the whole corner on two car jacks and a cross beam to distribute the weight.

This allows us to get a new treated and laminated beam underneath the new floor joists.

Here you can see the new laminated beams and how they connect together with an improvised finger joint.

Fixing the Kitchen

A massive water leak is discovered in our kitchen and I decide I can fix it faster than the management company can. With their blessing I go to town.

Pivot (II)

This art piece was constructed as a further evolution of a previous piece. The wooden center is constructed from many 2x4's that were laminated together. The base features three car shock and spring assemblies harvested from a local junk yard.

Pool Table Lamp

This unique light was made for Delaney's Restaurant and Bar in New Haven, CT. It was constructed by first creating the metal framework out of rod steel. Then several sheets of copper were brazed with bronze into the frame and then forced out though the gaps using a process of annealing and hammering the metal.
